The Creative Process

Inspiration
Inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere; photographs, colors, trends, movies, drawings, nature....

Concept
At the concept phase we flesh out the Inspirations. We think about:

What products to include in a new range of items
Appropriate fabrics; waffle, terry, velour, fleece, combinations
Decoration; embroidery, appliqués, printing, buttons, bows
Colors and how are they achieved; yarn dye, piece dye, jacquard weave, printing

At this stage we may make rough prototypes by hand using existing fabrics.

Design & Sampling
The best concepts proceed to the design where we chose fabric, colors, trimming accessories.  The patterns are drawn and instructions given to the factory.  We carefully consider the construction of the item (how will the seams be finished, how the trimming or accessories will be applied), what requirements it the product must meet (i.e flammability, pull tests) and how we can best fulfill them.
